Middle Park Health is proud to announce that the Fraser Campus Emergency Department has achieved Level IV Trauma Designation.
Middle Park Health’s Fraser Campus Emergency Department achieved official designation as a Level IV Trauma Center on January 28, 2026.
This designation formally recognizes and confirms that the Fraser Campus, which opened in June 2025, has the people, training, equipment, and processes in place to rapidly evaluate and stabilize injured patients. This includes 24/7 on site physician coverage, advanced imaging (CT) with 24/7 radiology technician coverage, blood products, and standardized trauma protocols. For our community, that means less time on the road, fewer delays in diagnosis, and quicker access to life-saving care, especially in severe weather or when roads leading outside of Grand County are closed.
The designation process is a rigorous process that reflects years of work by our emergency department physicians, nurses, EMS partners, MPH administration, and support staff. The process includes:
- Development of evidence-based trauma protocols
- Ongoing staff education and simulation
- Strong coordination with local EMS and regional trauma centers
The designation culminates with a formal, on-site survey by the state that reviews everything from equipment and staffing to quality improvement and patient outcomes that occurred in mid-January.
Middle Park Health Trauma Medical Director Dr. Michelle Lupica expressed her gratitude to the team at MPH that made this designation possible and stated, “We’re excited for the community to know that high-quality trauma care is available right here in Fraser.”
The Fraser Campus plays a critical role in caring for injured patients in Grand County’s rural, high-altitude, high-recreation area, and serves as an essential access point to a broader trauma system when higher-level care is needed.
The Fraser Campus joins Middle Park Health’s Kremmling Campus, which was Colorado’s first Level IV Trauma Center, and the Granby Campus, which both hold the Level IV designation.
