What Is an Orthopaedic Doctor?

Orthopedic doctors treat patients from all walks of life, but they most frequently see patients who are in pain. Often, people suffer from pain and do not know why: Have they broken bones, strained a muscle, or does the pain signify the beginnings of arthritis?
Range of motion and other musculoskeletal issues are other important reasons to visit an orthopaedic doctor. When we age, we lose muscle and bone mass and our ability to move as we once did, leading to complications affecting parts of the body, including bones, nerves, and everything in between. Orthopaedics and neurosurgeons frequently work together to deal with conditions that cause chronic pain. If this sounds like you, it will benefit you to schedule your consultation as soon as possible.

Who Can Benefit From Orthopaedic Services?

Professional athletes and those who just ski on the weekends are at risk for conditions that may necessitate the services of an orthopaedic doctor or a neurosurgeon. Shoulder dislocation, broken bones, and muscle strain are common reasons you may want to visit our clinic. Additionally, if you’re an athlete, you may want to discuss a plan with your doctor that allows you to use your muscles and bones in a different way that will likely prevent injury in the future. It’s often difficult to know if your joint stiffness or shoulder pain was caused by an injury, a period of overuse, or something else. Still, a licensed orthopaedic doctor will be able to tell you with certainty. You may undergo a series of tests, including X-rays and MRIs, to determine the cause of your pain.

Have you delayed treatment due to thinking that the normal aging process caused your pain? An orthopaedic doctor will be able to confirm whether you’re correct — or if you’re suffering from something more insidious that should be treated with medical or even surgical methods. Even if you’ve visited other doctors or you’ve given up on conventional medical treatment, today’s treatments are incredibly personalized and specific that they might offer you new hope. Get in touch with us today to see what we can do for you!
